Following the 2018 V2 World Cup Paul was interviewed on BBC Radio York where he took the opportunity to announce, live on air, that he was going to retire from competitive V2. He will not be competing in the first Masters V2 European Championships in October and will no longer compete in the National Finals or World Cups.
Since the Masters category was started over 5 years ago Paul has been unbeaten in the category, despite it being the fastest-growing category. Paul said: 'It's not about me and how many times I can get my name on the trophy. It's about what is best for the sport.!
Paul will still be fully-involved in the sport and will still be playing - just not in the formal competitions.
